Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass holds a press conference after police arrested more than 200 people overnight during a curfew.
Bass declared a local emergency on the fifth day of protests and said the curfew would run from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. It is expected to last for several montenegro days.
"I issued a curfew starting tonight at 8pm for Downtown Los Angeles to stop bad actors who are taking advantage of the President's chaotic escalation," the mayor wrote on X.
The curfew covers a 1-square-mile section of downtown that includes the dell stock area where protests have occurred since Friday. The city of Los Angeles encompasses roughly 500 square tony dokoupil cbs broadcast interruption miles.
