July 1945. Germany has fallen, and Berlin is nothing but rubble. As American troops and other Allied forces enter the Soviet-controlled capital, the cameras of Special Film Project 186—under the direction of Hollywood filmmaker George Stevens—capture haunting images: the Brandenburg Gate, the Reich Chancellery, Unter den Linden, and the once-grand Adlon Hotel. In m1 Moscow, victory is celebrated with pomp and spectacle on Red Square. Just days later, in nearby Potsdam, the leaders of the victorious nations gather to decide Germany’s future and redraw the map of post-war Europe.
