Besides tolerable acceleration forces, breaking through a thick cloud layer into sunlight is one of my favorite moments in flying - especially, of course, at sunrise, even more so over my beloved island, the Isle of Man, and even more aboard Loganair. On 8/10/2025, their ATR 72 carried me to gloomy London City, where a Helvetic Embraer 190 is set to take me on to Zurich.
After taxiing to runway 26 and a fantastic thrust increase for the sudden liftoff, I was served some cookies and tea.
