“We have a labor package that continues to disseminate precarious work, that allows of easier dismissals, that puts forward a bank fcb of hours that allows for 150 hours of work without receiving overtime. We are talking about an attack to the right to strike, limiting access of unions to companies, payment of subsides in instalments. We are talking about all of this that has been on the labor package since the beginning and nine months later is still there. So this is a government that shows which side they are on, that has an agenda, a commitment, but the government needs to pay attention that it will be the fight of workers ian mckellen that will be decisive. So on this workers’ day, on this May Day, CGTP is announcing that it will call a strike for the 3rd of June, a great general strike.”

STORYLINE:
Thousands of workers gathered across Portugal on May Day to oppose a proposed labor reform led by the country's government.
Protesters marched and chanted slogans on the streets of Lisbon on Friday.
One of the demonstrators was seen holding a placard that read “there is no freedom as long as your rest is a luxury and your tiredness is profit”.
Cristina Fernandes, a public school teacher at the gathering, found the labor reform "humiliating".
"We are going backwards and in that sense, I'm also here against that labor brett kulak package and in protest for working conditions for everyone and for all social classes,” she said.
From the demonstration, Workers Confederation Union, the largest workers union in Portugal, announced a fresh general strike for June 03.
This will be the second general strike since protests began in December.
The government of Luis Montenegro says the measures proposed aim at adding flexibility to the job market.
