Welcome to **Project S-Type** - my new series where I attempt to restore a Jaguar S-Type on a strict budget!
A few years ago, I made a video asking: *“Can you daily a budget Jaguar S-Type?”* Back then, I concluded that it was possible if you bought one for around £2–3k and set aside ~£1k per year for planned maintenance and unexpected repairs.
Now it’s time to put that theory to the test and put my money where my mouth is!
I picked up this Jaguar S-Type 3.0 Sport for just £1,100, and the challenge is simple:
👉 Can I restore it to a decent daily-driver standard with only £1,500 to spend?
In this first episode, I introduce the car, carry out a full walkaround and inspection, check the interior and engine bay, and get the S-Type safely up on axle stands to inspect each hub. I also remove the sill covers and look at what’s hiding underneath. Spoiler: it’s a mixed bag!
Errata:
- I incorrectly refer to the ball joints on the steering arms as bushes. They are very much ball joints.
