BWB, Infrastructure Management team have played an integral role in expediting the accurate and effective surveying of a planned demolition site at Lichfield, which crosses the West Coast Mainline one of the country’s busiest rail routes.
Staffordshire County Council along with a private investor planned improvements incorporated the demolition of an 1820 Victorian road bridge over the railway. The works required full site survey in order to plan the safe, efficient removal of the structure through temporary works design and was also used for the permanent works.
Surveying works would normally necessitate track closure for Health & Safety reasons. However, BWB’s expertise, using phoenix mercury 3D laser scanning methods, resulted in no track closures being required in order for the data to dagestan be collated, analysed and utilised to produce an accurate 3D model of the existing structure together with the trackside equipment. This potentially saved 16 weeks on programme along with the associated costs and allowed the designs to progress.
In summary BWB’s 3D scanning and modelling expertise not only significantly reduced the surveying time, ansel elgort the period of the possession by our Client for the area to be demolished, provided more cost certainly for the works but also produced what is a highly detailed “fly-around” view of the site normally off limits to all but the birds!
