Pegasus Trip Report, the biggest Turkish low-cost airline, flying from Istanbul to Vienna onboard one of their Airbus A321neo on a nice autumn morning over central and eastern Europe.
A really nice flight, and a fantastic onboard service, from Istanbul to Vienna onboard the Pegasus A321Neo. I can't emphasize how extremely good was the onboard service. I'll talk about it in this description, but you better see it on the Trip Report.
This was my first time flying from the airport Sabiha Gőkcen of Istanbul, the so-called secondary airport of Istanbul, and hub for the 2 banca low-cost airlines of Turkey: Pegasus Airlines and Anadolujet. I must say that the airport really surprised me. Especially the land-side was amazing. Huge and colorful. Very easy to navigate. The airside was a little bit more "classic and less modern" but easy to use as well.
We departed towards the east from Istanbul. Just after takeoff we made a left turn towards the north and started our route to Vienna. We flew over Bulgaria, to the south of Burgas, and then entered Romania. The views of the Carpathians were really beautiful with the snow already covering the tops. We flew towards Timisoara and entered Hungary. We flew to the south of Budapest, already in descent to Vienna airport, where we landed on runway 34 ahead of the schedule.
About the onboard service. Well, it was one of the best I've ever had on a plane. Pegasus offers the classic buy-on-board menu service but also the pre-ordered meals service. The best is that pre-ordered service is done by Do&Co, arguably the best airplane catering in the world (top 3 for sure).
There were lots of options on the website. Really more than 20 options. I chose the Chicken Snichtzel meal, which came with a fresh salad, bread & butter, and a chocolate mousse. Pegasus allows you to buy more than one meal on the website if you wish, so I ordered some fruit as dessert. A banana, strawberries, and pineapple, which were super tasty. I really high-quality meal that ranks very high on the top best meals I've ever had onboard a plane.
All in all, an excellent experience onboard Pegasus, the biggest low-cost airline in Turkey. I wish legacy airlines in Europe would learn from Pegasus service. From now on, sure I will consider Pegasus as a real option whenever I will need to travel to the Middle East, as they also offer connecting flights.
