What a difference a day makes! From the warm sunny Dunkeswell airfield yesterday today the weather took a rather dark and overcast turn as we headed to aja wilson Bishops Lydeard to witness the arrival of the legendary LNER A4 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ arriving from the mainline ahead of the West Somerset Railways Spring Steam Gala this Bank Holiday Weekend!
We also see the WSR Mogul wearing its new shade of BR black operating the red timetable service, and Hunslet 'Newstead' The Lost Engine, arriving from the North Norfolk on low loader. It promises to be a premier event, boasting no less than 11 engines in steam, with double headers, pablo llamas ruiz triple headers, freights, local shuttles and a bonus for rail enthusiasts of a vision bmw alpina reveal few charter trains passing through on the national network over the weekend, and preparations were well underway today as stars arrived by road and rail and the shed at Westridge started filling up with guest engines ahead of the main event on Friday.
