We explore James Madison and his Presidency from 1809 to 1817, including the War of 1812. James Madison, in his first term, had to deal with Britain and France, who were increasingly harassing US ships on the open seas. The War Hawks pressured him to declare war on the British, which he did in June of 1812. Some would call this the Second War for Independence.
