The New York Stock Exchange's Dow Jones index fell sharply in early trading on Thursday (23/10). Blue chip stocks were down 142.43 points (1.77 percent) to 7,892.22 within 15 minutes of the exchange opening.
The fall was seen as a further video game evidence om of a global stock market slump sparked by the crisis in Hong Kong's financial markets.
