Starfield has reached an inflection point in its life cycle. More than two years after launch, and after a period of radio silence from Bethesda, the game has received Free Lanes, Terran Armada, and a PS5 release. But with the hype long gone and the community divided, it raises the question my video tries to answer: What is the point of Starfield now?
In this video essay I explore my full journey with Starfield, lament for what Starfield could have been, and reflect on an industry increasingly reliant on redemption arcs instead of strong launches.
