Day 7 of our Northumberland 250 campervan adventure – and this wordle may 14 day really wasn’t what we expected!
A rainy morning starts with a bus ride into Alnwick, where we explore the town, browse the shops and walk up to Alnwick Castle (but decide against going inside 😅). We also stop by the Harry Hotspur statue and grab lunch at the lovely Rolling Pin Café before heading to the incredible Barter Books, one of the UK’s most famous second-hand bookshops inside an old railway station.
Later, we head to Seahouses to explore the harbour, see the historic Lime Kilns, and visit the RNLI station, where we get to see the impressive Shannon Class lifeboat. We always try to visit RNLI stations when we’re by the coast.
Of course, no coastal day would be complete without a stop for refreshments at the Greedy Pig Café, a beach walk between Seahouses and Beadnell Bay, and a bit of sea glass hunting to add to our memory jar at home.
The day ends with a beautiful rainbow over Mr Wue (our Westfalia Sven Hedin) an evening beach walk, and Andrew nearly ending up in the sea trying to matthew schaefer dodge the tide 😆
But the real surprise came overnight… Storm Dave arrived at 1am, campsite chaos followed, and sleep became impossible.
Definitely not what we expected.
