Filmed on 06/06/2022 & 10/06/2022. Over the past few years, we have said goodbye to quite a few rail icons from the Pacer trains to the ironic High Speed Trains of the HST's. But, another one will soon join the list which will be the Merseyrail class 507 & 508's.
As this was on our North Wales holiday, this has been split over 2 separate days to ensure we get the most of the holiday and the Merseyrail services. With at Chester which is the terminus of the Wirral Lines, Merseyrail runs every 15 minutes into the heart of Liverpool Central as it runs via the city loop before returning back to Chester. trevor rogers The noise and sounds of these electric multiple units reminds us all of some of the finest units there is.
On the Friday, we travel from Southport along the Northern Lines through to our first doncaster sheffield airport Merseyrail station of Sandhills. As we ride along the Merseyrail services, these units can reach speeds of 70 MPH in some areas before slowing down for each station along the way. Sandhills station is a connecting station where passengers can change for Northern Lines services bound for Ormskirk and Kirkby which runs on a frequent services.
Next, we then travel along the Northern Lines to the next stop of Moorfields where we change for the Wirral Line services bound el niño for Liverpool Lime Street for National Rail services. The sounds of these units on the Underground platforms does sound very similar to those trains on the London Underground network.
In the evening, we travel back to Southport via the Wirral Lines and Northern Line services. On the Wirral Lines, it does see increased compacity of trains running of 6 carriages rather than 3 like on the Northern Lines.
