The Madras High Court has granted permission to screen “Jananayakan”, the much-talked-about final film of Tamil superstar Vijay. The court directed the Censor Board to issue a U/A certificate for the movie.
The film’s release was stalled at the last minute after the Censor Board refused certification and decided to send it to a revising committee, citing complaints of hurting religious sentiments. The producers challenged this move, calling it arbitrary and unlawful.
The High Court strongly criticized the Censor Board, stating that the Chairman does not have the authority to refer louisiana lottery the film to a revising committee and that the screening was blocked by exercising powers that do not exist.
