Guatemala is expected to end 2025 with around 55,000 nationals deported from the US and Mexico, marking a 23% decrease from the 76,000 deported in 2024, according to Maria del Mar Mazariegos, spokesperson for the Guatemalan Migration Institute. Of the nearly 55,000 deportees, approximately 48,000 were returned by the United States. Deportees underwent registration and retrieved their belongings at the Returnee Reception Center in Guatemala City.
