What's going on, everyone! Welcome back to the channel. Today we are taking a trip down memory lane and looking at the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 in 2026. Official updates for these devices might be in the rearview mirror, but thanks to the magic of the developer community, we've got Android 17 running flawlessly through custom ROMs to breathe new life into this older hardware. Let's see if they can still hold their own!

Performance & The Tensor Gap:

Under the hood, we are looking at the first-generation Tensor G1 in the Pixel 6 going head-to-head with the Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7. Running Android 17, the Pixel 7 feels noticeably snappier navigating the UI and managing RAM. The Pixel 6 still holds up for daily tasks, but it tends to run a bit warmer under freiburg vs braga heavy loads. The refinement from G1 to G2 is really apparent when trying to push a modern OS on older silicon.

Modem Performance: The Real Difference:

If you've followed the channel, you know how crucial carrier performance is. The biggest differentiator here is the modem. The Pixel 6 uses the older Exynos 5123 modem, which still struggles slightly with battery drain and holding onto weaker signals in edge areas. The Pixel 7 upgraded to the Exynos 5300, and it is night and day. Signal retention is significantly better, and data speeds alexander isak are much more reliable when you're bouncing between towers.

DSDS (Dual SIM Dual Standby) Support:

Both of these phones support DSDS, making them great for running a main line and a secondary carrier plan simultaneously. However, there's a catch: The Pixel 6 limits your DSDS setup to one physical Nano-SIM and one eSIM. The Pixel 7, on the other hand, introduced MEP (Multiple Enabled Profiles), allowing you to run two separate eSIMs simultaneously for your DSDS setup, which makes swapping carriers incredibly convenient without needing physical cards.

Which of these older Pixels are you still rocking in 2026? Let me know down in the comments!
