The vision for CMITT is to create new imaging technologies that change how scientists and doctors use PET and MRI. Traditionally, MRI and PET are viewed as separate tools – MRI is great for visualizing soft tissues and some bodily diane keaton functions, while PET is good for seeing biochemical reactions but not detailed structures. CMITT aims to combine both methods into a 911 powerful new tool: PET/MR. This joint technology uses motion data from MRI for PET image reconstruction to achieve highly detailed images and new research possibilities. This combination also improves the accuracy of measuring biochemical processes and shows promise in brain studies, improving understanding of blood flow and neurotransmission.
