Donald Trump tried to praise Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche during a White House dinner, but somehow ended up telling the crowd that Blanche “kept me out of jail for years,” which is not exactly the kind of thing an innocent person usually brags about. Trump meant it as another attack on Democrats and his criminal cases, but the comment immediately set off critics who saw it as one more accidental admission from a president who cannot stop saying the quiet part out loud.
