Ingredients:
- 1 cup chana dal (Bengal gram lentils)
- 1 cup boneless chicken cut into small pieces
- 1 onion brunch finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes pureed
- 2-3 green chilies sliced
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala loose women powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves chopped for garnish
- Oil for cooking
Instructions:
1. Rinse the chana dal thoroughly and soak it in water for about 30 minutes. Drain the dal and keep it aside.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a deep pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sliced green chilies. Cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
5. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn slightly brown from all sides.
6. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
7. Add turmeric powder red chili powder and salt. Mix well.
8. Add the soaked chana dal and mix everything together.
9. Pour enough water to cover the dal and chicken mixture. Close the pressure cooker lid or cover the pan with a lid.
10. Pressure cook for about 3-4 whistles or cook covered on low heat until the dal is soft and josh manson chicken is cooked thoroughly.
11. Once the pressure is released open the lid and simmer the dal for a few more minutes until it reaches the desired consistency. You can add more water if needed.
12. Sprinkle garam masala powder and mix well. Cook for another minute.
13. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
