On May 13th, 2025, two days before their Inaugural UK flight, Global Airlines first A380 touched down in Glasgow. They are operating a return charter between Glasgow and New York JFK. The A380 will depart on the May 15th, before operating the return to Glasgow on May 19th, it will then operate the same flights from Manchester between May 21st and 25th.
Global Airlines is a new UK Airline founded in 2021, at the tail end of the covid pandemic by travel personality and entrepreneur James Asquith. They are the world’s first all A380 airline, and plan to operate Trans-Atlantic flights between the UK and America, with the aims to offer a much more luxurious onboard experience to passengers. Their A380 was stored in Prestwick Between May-October 2024, since then it’s been in Dresden for heavy maintenance and Beja, for cabin outfitting.
Currently Global Airlines does not have an Air Operating Certificate (AOC), so they have partnered with Hi Fly, who for the time being operate their sole A380, on their behalf. It was great to see their sole A380 land, and hopefully they are successful with their bold ambitions. It is very impressive that this airline concept, has got this far and are about to start commercial operations. It was also great to see the daily Emirates A380 depart, just 20 minutes before it's arrival.
