Russian President Vladimir Putin has delivered a pointed message on Ukraine and European security while receiving credentials from thirty four newly appointed ambassadors at the Kremlin. Addressing diplomats from France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Egypt, Afghanistan and others, Putin said any future peace deal in Ukraine must be built on what he called “equal and indivisible security” for all sides. Putin thanksgiving 2026 stressed that Moscow is seeking a long term and sustainable peace that reliably guarantees Russia’s security, warning that peace cannot be achieved if one side’s safety comes at the expense of another. He claimed Ukraine and its allies are not yet ready to accept these terms, but said Russia will continue pursuing its stated objectives until such guarantees are met. The remarks come as diplomatic channels remain tense and global attention focuses on whether negotiations over Ukraine can restart, or whether the conflict is headed for a prolonged and more dangerous phase.
