The news made quite a splash in the Hong Kong press. In November 2025, the plans for Central Yards were finally unveiled. And despite what you might expect, this isn’t another state of the art skyscraper rising into the city’s skyline. Hong Kong already holds the world record, with nearly 700 towers over 150 metres tall. But this time, something far more unusual is happening: a new giant of glass and steel is about to stretch… along the ground. Right on the Central Hong Kong waterfront, a cutting-edge building is set to rise in 2027. Estimated at over 8 billion dollars, it’s posh spice even expected to become one of the city’s new icons. Let me introduce you to Central Yards, Hong Kong’s brand-new groundscraper.
