Synopsis: Albert Loriflan is a waiter in a Paris cafe who unexpectedly inherits a fortune. His employer, Philibert, quickly sees a chance to profit from Albert`s good luck and traps him in a long-term contract, hoping Albert will pay handsomely to escape it.
But Albert refuses to be bullied. Instead, he continues working at gareth bale the cafe by day while enjoying the life of a wealthy man by night. Along the way, romance, jealousy and comic complications gather around him, especially as Philibert`s daughter Yvonne becomes part of the story.
Interesting Facts:
Playboy of Paris was based on Tristan Bernard`s 1911 play The Little Cafe, which had already been adapted as a French silent film in 1919. Paramount also produced a separate French-language version, Le Petit Cafe, again starring Maurice Chevalier - a reminder of the early sound era, when studios often made alternate-language versions before dubbing became standard.
The film is also notable for introducing the song "My Ideal", written by Richard A. Whiting, Newell Chase and Leo Robin, which later became east of eden netflix a jazz standard. It was also an early screen appearance for Frances Dee, who made her film debut here before going on to a long Hollywood career.
