It's ufc white house been almost a year since the Red Sox shocked Red Sox Nation and
traded Rafael Devers — a homegrown, three-time All-Star on a 10-year,
$313.5 million contract — to the San Francisco Giants. So where are we now?
Of the four players Boston received in that trade, THREE are already gone.
Jordan Hicks? Salary dumped to the extreme heat watch White Sox. James Tibbs III? Flipped to
the Dodgers for a Dustin May rental who posted a 5.40 ERA and got hurt.
Kyle Harrison? Just shipped to the Brewers for Caleb Durbin. The only thing
left from the entire Devers trade is Jose Bello — a 21-year-old who has
never pitched above Single-A.
Meanwhile, Bregman — the reason they blew up the relationship with Devers
in the first place — just signed with the Cubs. So Boston traded their
franchise cornerstone to make room for a guy who walked out the door anyway.
And what's the plan now? Nobody knows. The Red Sox are spending money and there's no strategic vision. No
connective tissue. Just moves that don't add up to anything.
Big John and Sean Jones break it all down. No sugarcoating. No excuses
for Breslow.
