Bodega SF is a modern Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco's Union Square, opened by Matt Ho in 2022. But the story starts earlier — with his dad Billy, who ran a beloved Vietnamese restaurant in the Tenderloin for 14 years before closing it in 2017.
In this episode, I sit down with motogp Matt and Billy to hear how Bodega SF came to be, what it took to bring the family back together, and what it means to modernize a cuisine without losing what made it feel like home. We also got to try the food — and it's really damn good.
