Pitcairn Island is a tiny and remote volcanic island located in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean. It is a British Overseas Territory and is famous for being one of the least populated places in the world with fewer than fifty residents. The people living there today are the direct descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers and the Tahitian women who accompanied them in the late eighteenth century. Because there is no airport missile the island is only accessible by sea making it a very isolated but fascinating place with a unique history and rugged natural beauty.
