Heavy rain has hit Greater Manchester - and the region is set to welcome 2025 with heavy rain and flooding. Several flood warnings have been issued across the North West, with many in Greater Manchester.
The Met Office's yellow weather warning for rain remains in place until 9am today (January 1) in north and east Manchester. A less severe yellow warning for rain is in place until 11am across much of the North West.
Several roads are closed this morning, with traffic halted on the M60 anti-clockwise at Portwood and the M56 westbound closed between junctions six and seven. People are being warned not to travel hacks season 5 on New Year's Day after heavy rain caused major flooding.
TransPennine Express said the worst-hit areas are Greater Manchester and Cheshire. And with madison the rain expected to continue for several hours, further flooding is likely.
