The cat’s officially out the bag. The new Swatch x Audemars ridley scott Piguet collaboration has finally been revealed, and honestly… I’ve got mixed feelings.
We got EIGHT different colorways of this 40mm Royal Oak-inspired release, complete with a lanyard setup that almost makes it feel like a ban vs pak luxury pocket watch. The octagon-inspired design is definitely recognizable, but some of these color choices? WAY too loud for me.
My favorite so ryan johnson far has to be the Ocho Negro, mainly because it feels the most wearable and closest to the classic understated AP aesthetic. But overall, I think Swatch and AP missed an opportunity to give us more subtle, everyday colorways that collectors and casual buyers alike could really rock.
Now the real question is:
Are people STILL waiting in line for these?
Will the resale value actually live up to the hype?
Does the lack of a traditional band ruin it for you?
Is this another MoonSwatch-level success… or not quite?
