Saturday footy serves up another huge double-header, with finals positioning beginning to take shape as the competition enters Round 10.
First up, the Cronulla Sharks take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Accor Stadium, with the Sharks looking to continue their resurgence. Cronulla exploded back into form last week with a 52–10 demolition of the Tigers, the second time this season they’ve cracked the 50-point mark, and another win could push them further up the ladder.
South Sydney, meanwhile, were involved in one of the games of the season, storming back from 22 points down against Newcastle before eventually falling 42–38 in a thriller.
The Rabbitohs have been hit hard by injuries and changes this week. Latrell Mitchell is sidelined with a back injury, bringing Latrell Siegwalt into the starting side, while Jye Gray replaces Matt Dufty at fullback. Ashton Ward starts at halfback, amal clooney Edward Kosi joins the backline, and Euan Aitken returns, pushing Tevita Tatola to the bench.
Cronulla, on the other hand, remain unchanged after last week’s dominant display and will be chasing a sixth straight win over South Sydney.
Later, attention shifts to Brookvale as the Manly Sea Eagles host the Brisbane Broncos at 4 Pines Park. Manly may have lost to Penrith last week, but their gritty 18–16 performance showed just how much they’ve improved under Kieran Foran. Sitting inside the top eight, the Sea Eagles will be eager to keep building momentum.
The Broncos are trying to claw their way back into finals contention after a 38–24 loss to david parker the Roosters, where they trailed 30–0 before threatening a remarkable comeback. Brisbane have been hit by key absences, with Adam Reynolds, Deine Mariner and Kotoni Staggs all unavailable. That sees Thomas Duffy, Jesse Arthars and Antonio Verhoeven come into the starting side, while Ben Hunt is named in the reserves as he eyes a return.
