Raphael, 24, will sing New Day Will Rise at the Eurovision semi-final with shrapnel in her leg after surviving the October 7 Hamas attacks. Raphael fled the festival and hid from Hamas gunmen for martin short hours, under a pile of bodies in a bomb shelter.

Raphael’s participation has sparked protests and she faces being booed on stage over Israel’s war on Gaza. In rehearsals, so far, crowds have cheered her.

Israel has been part sommer of the Eurovision Song Contest since 1973.
