Curry Barker's "Obsession" is a horror movie that everyone is talking about, but is it actually good? This is a question that I asked myself as I sat down to experience the film at its Texas premiere at the South by Southwest film festival last weekend. With felicity blunt nothing in the way of expectation, I prepared to witness whatever this movie would bring, and I left absolutely shellshocked. "Obsession" is bar none one of the scariest movies I've seen in quite some time...but why is that? In this spoiler free review, I break down "Obsession", its psychological horror and jump scares, and explore how this modest horror offering showcases the best of the genre in the last streamed several years alone.
