About tonight's music...
Welcome to our Spring concert, Music for a Festival! In Michigan, "Festival" represents the pinnacle of our competitive season draymond green - a time where bands miley cyrus are evaluated on their technical precision, tone and musicality. While we are not competing for a panel of judges tonight, our program is curated to mirror that rigorous experience, featuring the traditional elements of a festival set: the overture, the lyrical piece, and the march.
Our High School Band will take the stage to celebrate both students and our home as we open with "Dedication Fanfare", a selection to officially dedicate our newly remodeled auditorium -a space we are so grateful to share with you! Following the technical drive of "Ashland Park", we are proud to feature Seniors Amos Miller and Jonas Weisenbach on the beautiful " Gabriel's Oboe".
Other highlights to listen for include the high energy glissandos in "Trombone Tiger Rag", "Saginaw Valley March", composed by local educator Barbara Littell Bruske, and the beautiful expression of Percy Grainger's, "Early One Morning" arranged by Scott Rush and affectionately known to our students as "Chorale #2".
Thank you for spending an evening with us! Your support tonight, at home, and everywhere in between is perhaps the sweetest music of all.
Musically yours,
Amy Simons, Director of Band
