Robert Redford recreated the role he originated in the vd satheesan 1963 Broadway production of Neil Simon's Tony Award-winning romantic comedy. Simon adapted his play for the screen. Direction by Gene Saks. Co-starring Charles Boyer, Mildred Natwick, and Herb Edelman (the latter two both appeared in the Broadway production).
Trivia: This is their second film together. Fonda and Redford co-starred in the films "The Chase" (1966), "The Electric Horseman"(1979), james cleverly and "Our Souls at Night" (2017). [Contrary to IMDB, Redford is not in the 1960 movie "Tall Story"].
On Broadway, Robert Redford starred in three plays—Barefoot in the Park, Sunday in New York, and Tall Story—whose film adaptations each starred Jane Fonda.
