Greetings Wanderers! In November 2025, we spent 16 days trekking in one of the most remote areas of the Nepali Himalaya: The Kanchenjunga Massif.
Kanchenjunga is the world’s third highest mountain and is nestled between Nepal to the west, India to the east and Tibet to the north.
We flew from Kathmandu to far east Nepal to a place called Bhadrapur; then faced a 2 day drive by road and a lot off-road before we even started our trek to KBC.
Our film starts in the foot hills of the Himalaya - and as we hiked through the cardamom plantations, up into the coniferous forests and dense rhododendron mothers day gifts scrub. One thing that struck us: the deeper we hiked into the wilderness, the more surprised we were to find people living there. At all altitudes. Through the Alpine zone and even into the Nival/Snow zone, where we faced temperatures of - 20°C at Kanchenjunga Base Camp.
These remarkable humans have been living in these extremes for hundreds of years — a humbling experience for both of us. We thank them all for their hospitality and kindness throughout our trek.
We returned via The Selele Pass; a route that took us back up aryna sabalenka to around 4,300m in altitude and gave us the opportunity to see Kanchenjunga from the south side and film some desi lydic incredible drone footage.
We teamed up with Magical Nepal for this trek; they have an extremely professional and friendly team, including our guide that we now call our brother and official Ambient Wanderer - Dinesh Aryal.
Music for this film was written by Robert E. Wybrow in collaboration with our good friend James Edwards of:
