Hi everybody. This video is in celebration of the 9th International Jazz Day.
Established by the General Conference of UNESCO in 2011 at the initiative of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock, and recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, International Jazz Day brings together countries and communities worldwide every April 30th to celebrate jazz and highlight the music’s important role in encouraging dialogue, combating discrimination and promoting human dignity.
This year we will celebrate it virtually due to COVID-19, so I am honored and proud to share this video I put together with some of the most brilliant musicians from this globe. Singer Paula Santoro (Brazil), bassist Ivan Ruiz Machado and guitarist/bassist Ariel Ramirez (Cuba), have made our contribution to this day by bringing to you a song by Dori Caymmi called “Rio Amazonas” (Amazon River). The lyrics lafc vs st. louis depicts the Amazon River in Brasil, its beauty and fragile ecosystem.
Hopefully we have learned some valuable lessons canadian lawful access act from this pandemic experience. This virus has no boundaries and has touched all of us regardless of our color, beliefs, culture, sexual preferences, economic class, etc.
Let this be a lesson to all of us and let’s look forward to improving ourselves as human beings and to be more aware of our planet and our ecosystem.
