On November 19th, 2018, Keith Caneiro called his brother Paul and demanded answers. "Give me the f---ing login, Paul!" Keith had discovered that the life insurance trust Paul managed was being drained. He gave Paul two hours to explain. Paul never responded. By the next morning, according to prosecutors, Keith was dead on his front lawn with five bullet wounds. His wife Jennifer was shot and stabbed inside the house. His eleven-year-old son Jesse was stabbed in the kitchen. His eight-year-old daughter Sophia was stabbed seventeen times — including a wound to her left eye. Prosecutors say both children were still alive when the fire started. They died breathing smoke while bleeding out in the dark.
Paul Caneiro spent his whole life pretending to be something he wasn't. While his younger brother Keith built a company, earned degrees from Columbia, got fit, traveled to Greece with his family — Paul collected alphonso davies disability checks, leased three Porsches, allegedly stole from his brother's trust account, and doctored bank statements to hide it. He wore the mask of success while his accounts overdrafted and his lies compounded. And when Keith finally demanded the truth, prosecutors say Paul made a decision: eliminate everyone who knew.
But here's the twist — if prosecutors are right, Paul couldn't even pull off murder correctly. He allegedly disabled his security cameras at 1:28 AM, but police recovered the DVR anyway. He allegedly set his own house on fire to stage a "targeted attack," but left a gas can in the driveway. The murder weapon, bloody jeans with the children's DNA, blood-stained gloves — all found in his basement. The man who failed at fever vs wings everything allegedly failed at this too.
