CNBC Today On NVIDIA Stock, NVIDIA Groq Deal - NVDA Update
Hosts of CNBC discuss NVIDIA, NVIDIA stock (NVDA stock), and the recently announced NVIDIA Groq deal. On Tuesday, we learned that NVIDIA struck a $20 billion deal with Groq to license Groq's inference technology. Additionally, key Groq executives and employees will now work for NVIDIA. This is a big deal. NVIDIA's Groq deal is especially interesting given the ongoing memory shortage. A unique aspect of Groq's inference technology is that it uses SRAM, not DRAM, and therefore is not reliant upon HBM like NVIDIA's GPUs are. (HBM is currently in very short supply amid very strong demand). Now with NVIDIA having access to Groq's technology, I think NVIDIA is likely to produce a fast inference-focused chip; perhaps a third version of the Rubin chip. Looking ahead, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to deliver a keynote at CES 2026 on January 5, 2026. And then Jensen Huang is scheduled to speak again the very next day at Lenovo Tech World. I continue to think that NVIDIA's long-term growth is being underestimated by most analysts. NVIDIA has many large long-term growth opportunities in front of it that are in addition to NVIDIA's large datacenter business. Sovereign AI, enterprise AI, AI-native startups, physical AI, and quantum computing are all large long-term growth opportunities for NVIDIA. Blackwell Ultra is ramping quickly right now, Rubin is on track to launch in 2026, we're also expecting Rubin CPX at the end of 2026, then we're expecting Rubin Ultra in 2027, and later on we're expecting NVIDIA's Feynman in 2028. We have a clear datacenter product roadmap extending into 2028, and Jensen Huang believes there will be $3T-$4T of global AI factory buildout between now and 2030.
