From “Shakedown”. Aired on CBS Justice on June 26th, 2022. Captured on June 27th, 2022.
This video is another dedication to some TV channels that are shutting down soon (kind of).
It was announced recently that most of the CBS/AMC channels will be changing their names, after 13 years. CBS Reality is staying under its original name for some reason (however was originally going to be renamed to “Reality”) while CBS Drama is becoming RealityXtra, CBS Justice is closing down altogether and being replaced with “Legend” (however on Freeview it will replace Horror) and Horror is becoming HorrorXtra (personally LegendXtra would be a better name but to each their own). All these changes happen on June 30, so here's my thoughts on the branding:
I'm sure I'll get used to it real quickly, what bothers me though is that I am 99% sure that these channels will stay abandoned, even after the rebrand. The CBS candace parker channels, since 2020, have really gone downhill in my opinion. They were great back in 2017-2019, they aired a decent variety of shows like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The District, The Love Boat, The High Chapparal, etc. and also aired rare TV movies like September Gun, The Trackers, Brothers of the Frontier, Law of the Land, The Last of the Mohicans, etc. (I know Horror still airs TV Movies but still). Then the channels just stopped caring. They stopped airing movies, nearly all the good shows left the schedule, and they started playing only like 5-7 shows per channel. I tried contacting the stations telling them to improve, and while they did see it they didn't really do anything. michael burry They should probably add some new shows to the schedule but I honestly doubt that will happen with streaming taking over TV in this day and age.
Another problem is the names. I don't mind them, but they could be better. In February of this year, ViacomCBS rebranded to Paramount Global, to marlins blend in more with Paramount+, and I feel like the reason why the channels are rebranding is also to blend more with Paramount+, which launched here on June 22. However, what I don't get is why CBS Reality is staying, while the other channels are rebranding, why didn't they name the channels Paramount Reality, Paramount Drama, Paramount Justice, and Paramount Horror, would've made it blend in more imo. Again, idk why they decided to rebrand but if it was due to Paramount+, I feel like those names would be more fitting.
So overall I have negative feelings about this rebrand, It feels off putting (with CBS Reality staying, the other channels rebranding and the fact that they probably won't even add new shows or change the schedule knowing how the channels have been the past 2 years). But who knows, maybe something unexpected will happen.
Farewell to the rest of the CBS channels, you were great until the 2020s came, and sadly even with the rebrand I doubt the channels will be any better.
I'm sorry if this felt like some long essay, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
