A 15-year-old is facing an attempted murder charge after what prosecutors describe as a dangerous, multi-mile police chase across Nassau County. Doorbell video shows the moment a white SUV crashed onto the front lawn of a Port Washington home as the chase unfolded. Prosecutors say the teen stole his mother’s Jeep and fled after police attempted a traffic stop. Authorities say he later crashed into a police car, ran off on foot, and then stole a second vehicle before continuing the pursuit. Officials say the situation escalated when the teen allegedly drove directly toward an officer on foot, prompting that officer to fire a weapon as the vehicle john lithgow approached. Police say the chase ended near the Americana Manhasset shopping center after multiple crashes involving other vehicles. The teen has pleaded not guilty in youth court and is video game being held without bail. No injuries were reported.
