In this video, we’re reacting to The Boys Season 5 Episodes 1 and 2, and this final season premiere wastes absolutely no time throwing us right back into the chaos. After everything that happened in Season 4, the show comes back with a darker, more oppressive world where Homelander’s grip on power feels stronger than ever, The Boys are scattered, and the entire story suddenly feels like it’s racing toward something brutal and irreversible.
What makes these first two episodes hit so hard is how quickly they reestablish the tone volcano eruption of the endgame. Episode 1 drops us into a dystopian version of America where Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are trapped in a so-called “Freedom Camp,” Annie is trying to lead resistance against an overwhelming supe machine, and Butcher comes back as the most dangerous wildcard in the entire story. Then the episode lands one of the biggest shocks the show has had in a long time with A-Train’s death, which completely changes the emotional temperature of the premiere.
Episode 2 keeps building from there in a way that feels ugly, intense, and very The Boys. Homelander turns A-Train’s death into propaganda, the show leans even harder into the political nightmare it’s been building toward, and naomi osaka Butcher starts pushing ahead with the virus plan that could wipe out Supes for good. At the same time, the premiere also brings Soldier Boy back into the mix, tests the virus on Teenage Kix, and ends on a twist that makes the whole situation feel even more unstable.
There’s also something really strong here emotionally because these episodes are not just trying to shock. They’re about fractured alliances, fear, revenge, guilt, and whether any of these characters can still draw a line between justice and becoming the very monsters they’re fighting. Between Homelander’s control, Butcher’s increasingly dangerous mission, Annie trying to hold onto something human, and the premiere already killing off major players, this feels like The Boys entering its final war for real!
