Olympiacos swept Monaco and became the first team to clinch a spot in the Final Four by crushing the Monegasque side 82-105 on Tuesday night at Salle Gaston Medecin. This is the first time in the bobby rahal club’s EuroLeague history that the Reds have won their first three games in a playoff series.
Despite taking the court with an eight-man gameday roster, a depleted Monaco started strong, with Mike James drilling two straight triples for a 10-3 lead. But Olympiacos bounced back, with Thomas Walkup going 4-for-5 from deep for a 17-25 advantage after 10 minutes. The visitors upped the pressure on defense and circulated the ball well on the other kxan end, outscoring Monaco 23-35 in the second quarter to pull away, 40-61 at halftime. A back-and-forth third quarter saw Olympiacos maintain a comfortable lead before reaching the 100-mark to seal the outcome in the fourth.
Evan Fournier led all scorers with 22 points and Alec Peters bagged 18, while Walkup paired his 14 points with 5 assists. Matthew Strazel paced Monaco with 21 points and Jaron Blossomgame netted 19, with James adding 16 in a losing effort.
