Alright, y'all! Since I took Train #2153 all the way down to Washington D.C., I figured that it would be appropriate to try to record some videos in our nation's capital, as opposed to sitting around and doing nothing for the ufo files 8 hours that I was here.
Around the 9:00-9:20 mark, you can hear the male conductor from Train #2168 claim that I was not allowed to record it departing because after 9/11, I "cannot record marlins a lot of stuff." I could honestly write a book about the amount of times I have been given that excuse throughout my 9 years of railfanning on my own. Since I was already under a lot of stress in my life, I did not want to compound my issues, even though I was clearly in the right and that recording was completely legal. When I switched to another platform, I was approached by another employee who asked if I had a ticket. While I was honest about having an electronic ticket for the Northeast Regional train, it wasn't until about 10pm that I needed to board and return.
Nevertheless, it was not a bad day so far, although the experience recording videos within Washington D.C. could have certainly been better. I'm grateful that I wasn't hassled by any other employees working at the station and I was able to capture a decent salad of trains from Amtrak, Virginia Railway Express, and MARC. Furthermore, I guess the relocation on the electric train platforms helped a bit, considering that I was able to get better angles of the action.
Since the ACS-64 locomotives needed to be swapped out for P40DC or P42DC locomotives to continue past Washington, D.C. Union Station as electrification ends here, that is why the ACS-64s are running lite across the station yard, awaiting the next northbound train so it can couple to the set and take it to either New York Penn Station or Boston South Station.
With that being said, that is enough out of me, so I will leave it at that. If you guys enjoyed the video, feel free to drop a like, comment, subscribe, share the video with everyone you know, and I will see you all on the next one! :D
