Trying to get one last hike in before the george furbank New Year proved to be a challenge. With bad weather rolling in (Big winter storm) shutting down roads and/or making certain hikes not as enjoyable we decided on doing a quick overnighter in Joshua Tree. With a few places set in mind we called the ranger station while en route asking about conditions. Dirt roads were closed, parking lancashire telegraph was overflowing, trails were covered in a few feet of snow with ice/slush or just plain undoable. The ranger at the office recommended the Boyscout Trail which would put us up in some snow and the mileage would vary depending on our start violanews time. (we got a late start) This is how it went......
