Texas weather is doing the absolute most today. Snow is falling in the northern Texas Panhandle, strong to severe storms are possible across East and Southeast Texas, wildfire danger remains elevated in parts of the state, and crashy the cold front brings much cooler weather statewide this weekend.
In this Friday edition of the Texas Weather Roundup, we break down where snow accumulations are expected in the Panhandle, the timing and location of strong storms today, the very low tornado risk, and when colder air settles in for the weekend. Wind, blowing dust, fire danger, and sharp temperature drops are all part of today’s forecast.
Snow totals could reach several inches north of Interstate 40, especially near Dalhart football club and toward the Oklahoma Panhandle. Farther south, storms may bring hail and strong googlebook wind gusts across East Texas, the Brazos Valley, and Southeast Texas before the cold front sweeps through tonight.
Behind the keylor navas front, expect much colder mornings, freezing temperatures in parts of West Texas, and seasonable January weather statewide through early next week.
