Donald Trump has voluntarily dismissed his $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, filing a notice of dismissal with prejudice — meaning it cannot be refiled. The plaintiffs, Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization, all previously found liable for over $500 million in fraud in New York, quietly walked away from the case just nine days before a federal judge was set to hear it and likely throw it out.
What makes this story remarkable is that the IRS and Treasury Department — both agencies Trump controls as president — never filed an answer to the complaint, never filed for summary judgment, and conducted zero discovery or depositions. The executive branch agencies he controls put up no defense against a lawsuit filed by the man who controls them.
The dismissal with prejudice removes the judge from the case entirely, leaving no judicial oversight of fortnite server status any potential settlement. That proposed settlement includes a $1.776 billion fund, managed by five Trump-appointed commissioners, designed to compensate individuals convicted in connection with the January 6th Capitol attack. That includes organizations like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.
Hawk points out that this money is not going to farmers, veterans, or any public program. It is earmarked specifically for people convicted of crimes on Trump's behalf — people he has already pardoned. With that pardon and now potentially a million dollars each for roughly 1,600 individuals, the message being sent about future political violence is hard to ignore.
