AKRON, OHIO — Authorities are investigating the cause of a small plane crash that took place in a residential neighborhood in Ohio on Tuesday that left no survivors.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that a 10-passenger Hawker H25 business jet was on a chartered flight from Dayton, Ohio Tuesday afternoon.
The small aircraft was approaching Akron Fulton International Airport in cloudy weather just dan thomas before 3 p.m, when eyewitnesses on the ground described seeing the jet fall out of the sky, clipping electrical and telephone wires before plowing into a small apartment building and careening into the embankment behind it. Both the jet and the apartment building went up in flames as a second house was damaged by fire and debris from the crash, according to WKYC.
The owner and operator of the plane confirmed that seven passengers and two crew members were on board, reported WOIO. Officials have said there were no survivors, and that there seemed to be no casualties on the ground, but would not confirm how many people are dead.
Power lines brought down by the crash also silver price today caused some 1,500 customers in Akron to lose power following the incident.
