Welcome to the official Opening Ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
Eurovision week officially began on Sunday 10 May as all 35 participating delegations gathered for the spectacular Turquoise Carpet event in the heart of the Austrian capital. For the first and only time before the live shows, every artist, delegation and broadcaster came together to celebrate the start of the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The ceremony took place between the historic Burgtheater and Vienna City Hall at Rathausplatz, which has been transformed into the home of the Eurovision Village during Eurovision week. Thousands of fans lined the Turquoise Carpet route while international media from across Europe and beyond followed every moment live from Vienna.
Known around the world as the “Capital of Music”, Vienna created an Opening Ceremony that combined Eurovision glamour with the city’s rich musical heritage. Each delegation was welcomed with music connected to their country, performed live by the Woodstock Allstar Band, while the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna added a grand ceremonial atmosphere to the evening.
The event was broadcast live on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel and Austrian broadcaster ORF, giving fans around the world the chance to experience the excitement, fashion, celebrations and unforgettable atmosphere from the Austrian host city.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 marks the 70th edition of the competition and brings together artists and fans from across dasun shanaka Europe and beyond for a week filled with music, culture and celebration.
