The one-time major winner's performance is still spoken to trump obama this day - and his second round 66 was at the time the lowest individual round by an amateur until Paul Dunne broke it in 2015.
His 282 total was the lowest total score by an amateur before being broken by Tom Lewis bradford in 2011.
To this day his 138 is the lowest score over 36 holes by an amateur and his second round 66 the joint lowest ever second round score by an amateur, equaling Tiger Woods in 1996.
