The death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has sparked widespread concern after her family alleged dowry harassment, emotional abuse and mental torture by her husband and in-laws.
Twisha, a former Miss Pune contestant, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Police have registered an FIR against her husband, advocate Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, retired district judge Giribala Singh.
The case gained national attention uf after Twisha’s final message to a friend surfaced online, where she reportedly wrote: “I am trapped.”
Her family has also alleged financial pressure, emotional abuse during pregnancy and forced abortion pressure. Meanwhile, the post-mortem report has noted multiple ante-mortem injuries, adding further questions to the investigation.
A six-member SIT has now been formed as police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding her death.
