Arizona currently leads the nation in the loss of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, according to a report by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. These significant declines have been recorded since July 2024.
The Arizona Department of Economic Security attributes the decrease in enrollment to stricter federal work requirements and a state-level effort to reduce administrative errors.
